HOW IT WORKS

Your browser does the work.
You can check it yourself.

Many online tools upload your file to their own computers, process it there and send the result back. StillKit works the other way round: the tool comes to your file. Opening a tool downloads its code from ailivex.com, and pressing its button runs that code on your own device.

Your files, text and results are never uploaded.

StillKit has no upload feature, no account and no form that sends your work anywhere, and each page tells your browser to stop its code from connecting to any server.

What happens when you use a tool

  1. Your browser loads the page and the code for that tool from our website.
  2. You choose a file or enter your text. It stays in your browser's memory.
  3. When you press the button, your browser runs the tool in a separate background worker on your device.
  4. The result appears on the page, or as a download created by your browser. Choosing Clear all, or closing the page, removes it.

What our website receives

Like every website, our host receives requests for pages and code files, with basic technical details such as your IP address and browser type. It never receives the files, text, passwords or results you work with. Our privacy policy explains the details.

Check it yourself in about a minute

You don't have to take our word for it. Every modern browser can list each request a page makes.

Chrome, Edge and other Chromium browsers

  1. Open a tool, for example the word counter.
  2. Press F12 (on a Mac, Option + Command + I) and choose the Network tab.
  3. Enter your own text or choose a file, then press the tool's button.
  4. Look at the new entries. You will see only code files from ailivex.com, such as /_astro/… and /worker-dispatch.js. None of them contains your text or file, and nothing goes to another website.

Firefox

Press Ctrl + Shift + E (on a Mac, Option + Command + E) to open the Network panel, then follow the same steps.

Safari

In Safari Settings, open Advanced and turn on the features for web developers. Then choose Develop, Show Web Inspector and Network, and follow the same steps.

A rule your browser enforces

Every StillKit page sends your browser a Content Security Policy that includesconnect-src 'none'. With it, your browser blocks the page's code from sending data with fetch, XMLHttpRequest, WebSockets or beacons, even to our own website. The same policy lets pages run only our own code and stops forms from sending anywhere.

To see it, select the page itself in the Network tab and look forcontent-security-policy in the response headers. The full policy is also at the top of each page's source, in a meta tag.

What no website can protect you from

  • Browser extensions can read the pages you visit, including StillKit. Use extensions you trust.
  • Malware, or a shared or managed device, can watch what you do on any website.
  • Someone who took over our website could change its code. Strict security rules limit what could go wrong, but no website can rule this out completely.
  • Very large or unusual files can use a lot of memory. Every tool has size and time limits to keep your browser responsive.

Common questions

Is StillKit free?

Yes. Every tool is free to use, with no account, subscription or fees. You remain responsible for your content rights and for checking important results.

Does it work offline?

You need an internet connection to open a page and load each tool's code. The work itself happens on your device.

Which browsers does it support?

StillKit is made for recent versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on computers and phones. Our automated tests run every tool in Chromium. Video and audio tools rely on browser features that can differ between browsers.

Why does a tool need JavaScript?

JavaScript is the program your browser runs to do the work on your device. Without it, pages still show each tool's description, but the tool cannot run, and nothing is sent to a server instead.
