THE SHORT ANSWER

How to use resize image by percentage

Make an image smaller or larger by a percentage while keeping its proportions. This free tool runs locally after you choose to start.

  1. Choose supported files from your device.
  2. Adjust new size (% of the original), save as as needed.
  3. Choose the action button. Review the result, then copy text or download a file when available.
  4. Choose Clear all when finished to remove inputs and results from the interface.
GOOD TO KNOW

Limits, without the small print.

PNG, JPEG or WebP only. Maximum 20 MB and 12 megapixels. The result is a new copy made on your device; your original file is not changed. Enlarging cannot add detail that was never captured. Results are limited to 8,192 pixels per edge and 12 megapixels.

One job runs at a time. You can cancel it; jobs stop after 30 seconds. Browser and device capabilities affect performance.

METHOD & EXAMPLE

What this tool does

Use 50 to halve the width and height, which usually makes the file much smaller, or 200 to double them. The proportions always stay the same.

Example input

Select a supported local file; the visible settings are a starting example.

What to expect

Review the generated local preview or downloadable copy before using it.

Questions people often ask.

Does resize image by percentage upload my data?

No. This tool processes your input inside your browser. Your text and files are not sent to an application server. The static host receives page and asset requests; see our privacy explanation.

Is this tool free for work and study?

Yes. No account, paid API, usage subscription or watermark fee is required. You remain responsible for your content rights and checking results. Hosting providers and their free tiers are separate from this open-source software.

What should I check before relying on the result?

PNG, JPEG or WebP only. Maximum 20 MB and 12 megapixels. The result is a new copy made on your device; your original file is not changed. Enlarging cannot add detail that was never captured. Results are limited to 8,192 pixels per edge and 12 megapixels. Review important outputs against the source, especially financial, legal, identity, medical and research calculations.

Will editing reduce my photo quality?

Every save creates new pixels. PNG keeps them exactly, while JPEG and WebP save space with a small, usually invisible loss. Keep your original and make each edit from it, rather than editing the same copy again and again.

Should I choose JPEG, PNG or WebP?

Choose JPEG for photos you share or upload, PNG for screenshots, logos and images with transparent areas, and WebP for small files on modern websites. Where a Save as option appears, "Same as original" keeps the format you uploaded.

How large can my image be?

Images up to 20 MB and 12 megapixels work, which covers photos from most phones. Resize very large images first.
