Limits, without the small print.
PNG, JPEG or WebP only. Maximum 20 MB and 12 megapixels. The result is a new copy made on your device; your original file is not changed. 1 KB is counted as 1,000 bytes, so the result also fits limits that use 1,024 bytes. Transparent areas become white.

Understand the safeguards →What this tool does
StillKit tries the best quality that fits first, lowers quality step by step and only reduces the width and height when quality alone cannot reach your limit. Check faces and small text in the preview before you upload.
Example input
Select a supported local file; the visible settings are a starting example.
What to expect
Review the generated local preview or downloadable copy before using it.
Questions people often ask.
Does compress image to target kb upload my data?
No. This tool processes your input inside your browser. Your text and files are not sent to an application server. The static host receives page and asset requests; see our privacy explanation.
Is this tool free for work and study?
Yes. No account, paid API, usage subscription or watermark fee is required. You remain responsible for your content rights and checking results. Hosting providers and their free tiers are separate from this open-source software.
What should I check before relying on the result?
PNG, JPEG or WebP only. Maximum 20 MB and 12 megapixels. The result is a new copy made on your device; your original file is not changed. 1 KB is counted as 1,000 bytes, so the result also fits limits that use 1,024 bytes. Transparent areas become white. Review important outputs against the source, especially financial, legal, identity, medical and research calculations.
How do I get a photo under 100 KB for an online application?
Enter 100 as the maximum size, choose JPEG and select Run. StillKit keeps the best quality that fits and only makes the image smaller if it has to. If the form also asks for exact pixel dimensions, resize the photo first.
Why does my photo look blurry after compressing?
Very small limits leave little room for detail. Try a slightly larger limit, crop away unneeded background first, or allow smaller dimensions instead of very low quality.
Is 1 KB 1,000 or 1,024 bytes?
This tool counts 1 KB as 1,000 bytes, which is slightly stricter, so the result also fits websites that count 1 KB as 1,024 bytes.
